Unstoppable? Are you?
Do your family and friends consider you “unstoppable”?
How could you become unstoppable?
All of us want to be unstoppable or the proverbial “go-getters” of life, but very few people live lives where they can honestly say “YES! I am unstoppable!”. More often than not, we find ourselves caught up in circumstances, hoping again and again that our circumstances will improve so that our lives will be better. And because our circumstances don’t always improve, so many people actually lose the will to live and just survive from day to day…
What is stopping you? What is hindering you from becoming unstoppable?
Before you answer, consider what John Maxwell says in his book “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth”:
“The reality is that the external things do not stop people. It’s what happens to them on the inside. Most people stop themselves from reaching their potential.”
Although we would like to put the responsibility for our procrastination, failures, unhappiness or lack of moving forward on someone else’s shoulders, I do not believe that to be the truth about our lives and if we don’t confront ourselves with truth, we will always be hostages to a life of insignificance. You cannot change what you don’t acknowledge. You cannot become unstoppable if you don’t admit that you are your own worst enemy in some areas of your life. Let me elaborate.
We grow up thinking that one day I am going to have a great life – I will marry my prince charming, have an amazing career, maybe a child or two and a beautiful house I will call my home. The dream is perfect with no flaws. Then, when reality hits, we realise the “prince” needs major changing and will never be perfect; we end up more often than not in jobs we hate; our children need discipline, love and attention which demands so much time and energy; and my house – oh, dare I speak about my house that’s just never good enough?
If you want to be unstoppable, you have to stop HOPING you will get what you want and you have to GO get what you want. However, it doesn’t start outside of you – it starts on the inside!! Here are a few things I believe you can start doing today to become the unstoppable woman you have always wanted to be:
1. Work daily on having a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Attitude is a choice. Yes, circumstances and people do influence your attitudes, but we choose it. Hugh Downs said: “A happy person is not a person with a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.” When you are happy inside, it doesn’t mean that you don’t get upset or you don’t have bad days. It just means that you choose a positive life stance. Our first reaction to negative experiences will always be negative, but you do not drown by falling into water; you only drown when you stay there.
2. Write down a VISION FOR YOUR LIFE. Would you play ten-pin-bowling without pins? Would you play rugby or soccer without goal lines? Even just a line drawn in the sand was good enough for us as children, as long as we had a goal line! The fun of it all is in having a target: A GOAL! What is your goal? We expect companies to have vision statements, yet we never design a vision for our own lives. If you do not have a vision for your life, how would you know that you have achieved your potential in this life? Where are you going with your life? What is your purpose for being here? George Carver said “No individual has any right to come into this world and go out of it without leaving behind him distinct and legitimate reasons for having passed through it.” What is your vision? What legacy would you like to leave behind?
3. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE. It is easy to blame others. “If only my husband would…” or “if only my children would…” or “if only my boss would…” or “if only my finances could improve”. You will never be unstoppable, unless you take responsibility for your life. Don’t put the responsibility for your happiness on other people’s shoulders. It is yours. Own it. Do you want a better marriage? Be a better wife. Do you want great children? Be a better mother. Do you want your boss to give you opportunity? Be a better employee. Do you want your finances to improve? Learn how to work with money. The answer to be unstoppable lies within you.
4. STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND START LIVING. People, who become stuck in their circumstances, are no strangers to excuses such as; “I don’t have time” or “I don’t feel motivated enough” or “I’ll do it later”. All of these will STOP you from achieving your life’s dream. We all have 24 hours a day – some use it to become unstoppable and some don’t. We don’t feel motivated all of the time, but the secret is in starting – motivation will show up! Excuses are dream killers! Lying to yourself like that will only derail your own chances of success. Don’t do that to yourself.
I believe that becoming an unstoppable woman has everything to do with how I LEAD my life and not just go through life. If you want to be unstoppable, you can start today. But be careful: don’t make major changes all at once. It is difficult to make changes and maintaining those changes takes discipline. Start small and add to it as you go along. Take one step at a time and don’t look back – don’t stop. Become an unstoppable woman today!

And There Are Some Who Face Reality.
And Then There Are Those Who Turn One Into The Other.”
